Crafting your First Business Research Paper
A Business Research Paper differs from a more traditional academic synthesis or dissertation essay in both the role it plays on the field and how it is written. Business Research Papers rely upon more on an expansion of sources, and as a result, the goal of the paper is more complex and intricate than that of your more common synthesis essay.
Your ultimate objective in writing a successful Business Research Paper is to develop a business proposition, but it is still also a paper bringing attention to a particular subject. Without any further ado, here are the general guidelines to writing your first Business Research Paper, as preparation for your ultimate objective of making a business proposal:
- Choose a Topic
- Introduction
- Literature Review
- Discussion Paragraphs
- Conclusion
As with an academic essay, the selection of a topic is also the first step in writing a Business Research Paper. If you are not assigned or given a particular topic, than it is your job to choose one that is narrow for an audience of all potential business partners to follow, but that is also more comprehensive than a synthesis paper.
An example of a topic would be one that relates to the stock market. While you would have to narrow yourself to a more specific subject about the stock market, it is still a topic that encompasses a wide spectrum of potential business people.
Begin your paper with an introduction. Draw in the attention of the audience and bring their attention to the issue at hand. Declare your thesis statement and your proposed plan.
This is where you expand on the criticality of the issue following the introduction and the thesis, by talking about previous attempts made to solve the issue and why they failed (or ones that worked). This is your chance to prove that you are knowledgeable and serious about the issue.
This is the largest and most important part of your paper. Here you bring up important data, facts and statistics and why they are relevant to your thesis. Each discussion point should take up one paragraph.
